Gigzz began as a simple idea that popped into my teenage mind; a concept similar to Indeed but specifically designed for teens. At the time, I couldn't even imagine it becoming more than just a webpage. As a sophomore, I had big dreams of becoming an entrepreneur, but I wasn’t particularly passionate about school, nor did I have any interest in attending a major university. That’s when I realized I needed to focus my energy on something else.

The concept for Gigzz started when I noticed one of my friends struggling to find a job. At the time, I was shocked. Having had little experience with job hunting, I couldn’t understand why it was so difficult for teens to find work. This situation intrigued me and prompted the idea of creating a platform dedicated to helping teens find jobs. I decided to pitch the idea to my parents and get their incite about the app idea; they both thought Gigzz was a good idea and helped me. This incurred brainstorming sessions with my mom, Kristie Conner, and my stepfather, David Anderson, until we refined and developed what the app is now

Just to run it down, Gigzz is a job finding platform designed specifically for teens, introducing a new model that combines gig work with traditional employment. This dual approach opens up opportunities for teens who may need a more flexible schedule than a standard part-time job can offer. While simultaneously catering to those in need of a more stable, long-term position. We have already seen these benefits during our beta testing phase, particularly with my best friend Nolan, who tested the app and completed gigs over the summer. He earned a few thousand dollars solely from gig work, but perhaps the most valuable aspect was the references he gained, which helped him secure a traditional job. His two employers were thrilled with his work, and the references they provided were instrumental in advancing his career.

However, Gigzz is not just about teens earning money. It’s about helping them build skills, develop resumes, and discover their passions at an early age. Before Gigzz, I never really knew what I wanted to do. I would constantly hear about others' aspirations and feel like I was behind. That was until I realized that I wasn’t alone in those feelings and that it affects a larger number of teens. That is why the idea is so important to me, most people get into jobs they aren’t enthusiastic or excited by, oftentimes more miserable than anything. My vision is that Gigzz can change up the way society views working, allowing a haven for future entrepreneurs and those who just want to pursue their passion.
